Overcoming component obsolescence

Taking action against component obsolescence requires two key activities:

1. Prevention--Protronica's Design for Supply Chain ensures an optimized bill of materials by using preferred suppliers and common components and actively avoiding components nearing the end of their life.

We all know, however, that the world of electronics moves at warp speed. No matter how carefully we select components, inevitably some will be discontinued by their manufacturers. Thus . . .


2. Cure--Depending on component usage, Protronica can keep significant inventory of the obsolete part to meet your future needs or extend the time you need to find alternatives. We also can hold inventories of obsolete parts so you can meet your ongoing product maintenance commitments.

Ultimately we'll help you find a replacement solution–either by sourcing another, functionally equivalent component, or by redesigning the product to use available devices or other options (ASICs or FPGAs).
